Clerk - Treasurer

Larry Breese, Clerk-Treasurer

A Message from the Clerk-Treasurer

To the citizens of the City of Greenfield, the motto for my office is "Working Together for Others". With this in mind, I would like to take a moment to explain the pertinent functions of the Clerk-Treasurer's Office.

The voters of our community have entrusted my staff and myself with the financial aspects of our great city. The Clerk-Treasurer's Office is responsible for the collection of all funds entitled to the City of Greenfield, whether that be in the way of a fee for a solicitors permit or collection of relief funds from the state or federal government.

The bookkeeping aspect of this department includes the payment of liabilities claimed against the city to payroll for the city employees. The city pays many of the same taxes that private industry would pay including withholding tax, FICA and Medicare tax and sales tax.

Another primary responsibility of this department is to maintain the records for the city. The Clerk-Treasurer is responsible for keeping minutes from all public meetings, as well as, the written ordinances and resolutions that govern our community.

On behalf of myself and my staff, I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve you.
